FIRST PERRIN PRACTITIONERS IN SOUTH AMERICA

The Perrin Technique reached another corner of the world last month, as we welcomed three new licensed practitioners in Brazil! These are Jose De Alencar Rodrigues Da Cruz and Ary Llagostera Castro in Rio De Janeiro as well as Iara Bueno Louro who is located in Sao Paulo.

It was all smiles following the conclusion of the first-ever Perrin Practitioner workshop in South America, which was held at Ary Llagostera’s Osteopathic practice.

After a small but successful workshop, the hope is to continue to emulate this around the globe and help reach those patients in countries who still do not yet have a licensed Perrin Practitioner to turn to.

In view of keeping the work/life balance in order, Dr. Perrin squeezed in a visit to the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Gardens and swapped his PPE for a Rio Carnival costume!…

INTERNATIONAL ME/CFS AWARENESS DAY 2022

12th May 2022 will mark the 30th anniversary of International ME/CFS Awareness Day. This date was chosen as it coincides with the birthday of Florence Nightingale, founder of modern nursing, who became chronically ill in her mid-thirties with an M.E.-like illness after she returned from the Crimean War, which sadly left her virtually bedridden for the rest of her life.

International ME/CFS Awareness Day is a time for the ME/CFS community, carers and allies to attend events, increase public awareness and share information to help educate friends, family, healthcare professionals and government officials about this debilitating condition. Ultimately, the goal is to promote a greater understanding of ME/CFS and the impact it can have on a person’s life.

We encourage all our Practitioners to raise awareness and express our solidarity this May. Whether that’s spreading the word on social media or in clinic, attending a #MillionsMissing event or wearing the colour blue to show support for the ME/CFS community.

LONG-COVID REPORT NOW PUBLISHED

Our latest paper on Long-COVID has just been published online!

Although an uncontrolled study, our results potentially suggest that a specific manual lymphatic technique could have benefit for Long COVID patients. It may be that early intervention and supportive treatments at the end of the acute phase of COVID-19 can help to lessen acute phase symptoms and prevent them from becoming chronic/enduring.

Reducing fatigue-related symptoms in Long COVID-19: a preliminary report of a lymphatic drainage intervention” can be found in the international journal Cardiovascular Endocrinology and Metabolism, and presents analysis of 20 Long-COVID patients’ data following 3 months of The Perrin Technique:
